Invisalign Teen allows teenagers to achieve a confident new smile without the need for metal brackets and wires. The aligners, often referred to as retainers, are very similar to the original Invisalign system, but they have special features designed for mouths that are still growing and changing.
The system uses a series of discreet, clear aligners to gradually straighten your teeth. The removable aligners are made from a comfortable, flexible thermoplastic. Your aligners need to be worn for 20 to 22 hours a day. That means all day, except when eating or brushing your teeth.
You’ll attend a consultation to discuss your options. Your orthodontist will assess your teeth and let you know whether you’re suitable for Invisalign Teen and what the alternatives are.
If you’re suitable for treatment, your orthodontist will write you a treatment plan which needs to be signed by a parent or guardian.
You can start your treatment and your orthodontist will talk you through how to wear your aligners. You’ll need to wear them for around 22 hours a day.
You’ll see your orthodontist every few weeks to change your aligners and check in on progress. They’ll guide you through your treatment every step of the way.
Many people find Invisalign clear aligners more comfortable than traditional braces2. Your teeth might feel a little uncomfortable or ache for the first few days, but you’ll adjust to it within a matter of days. You can use over-the-counter painkillers such as paracetamol and ibuprofen to manage the initial discomfort.
Invisalign Teen can work in as little as six months3, but the average treatment time is nine to 15 months.
Invisalign Teen treatment is only available privately and starts from £4,900 but the cost depends completely on your individual needs. Ask your practice about payment options available to spread the cost of treatment.
During your free consultation*, we’ll talk you through any costs involved and let you know exactly what to expect before starting any treatment.
At your consultation, we will chat through your options and suitability for different teeth straightening treatments.
