Dr Sonil Kalia

Sonil has been qualified as a dentist since 1982 and gained his specialist orthodontist status over 20 years ago. He founded our practice back in 2000.

Sonil qualified from the University Dental School in Sheffield and the Royal College of Surgeons in 1982. He completed his specialist training at the renowned Royal Dental School of Aarhus, Denmark, where he still teaches postgraduates part-time.

Sonil provides a variety of adult orthodontics and, in 2000, became one of the first people certified to use the Invisalign system in the UK. He was named one of their first Platinum providers for successfully treating a large number of patients with these aligners.

Sonil is also a certification doctor for the Orthocaps aligner system and has certified hundreds of doctors to be proficient in the system in Europe and USA.

Sonil has trained at leading orthodontic clinics to gain experience and knowledge and has also been invited to present at numerous lectures, congresses and symposiums in the UK and abroad. Sonil accepts referrals to carry out orthodontic treatments on all ages of patients.

Steven Fletcher

Steven is a specialist orthodontist and consultant orthodontist, accepting referrals from other dentists for patients of all ages. Steven completed undergraduate dental training in Sheffield. After a period of core hospital training, he completed specialist and consultant level training in Leeds, certifying in both with the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

As well as being a registered specialist orthodontist, Steven also works as a consultant at a hospital in the region. He is a Fellow and an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons. Steven has contributed to several publications, spoken at the European Orthodontic Congress and was awarded 1st prize for his research presentation at the British Orthodontic Conference.

Dr Rasha El-Oshar

Dr Rasha El-Oshar is a qualified and experienced specialist orthodontist with a proven track record of success, offering a range of teeth straightening and other orthodontic treatments at Total Orthodontics Sheffield.

Training and qualifications

Rasha graduated with distinction in 2005 from the University of Benghazi and was awarded a scholarship to continue her postgraduate training at the Edinburgh University Postgraduate Dental Institute. In 2011, she was awarded honours in her Master of Clinical Dentistry (MClinDent ) in orthodontics, and in 2012 she gained Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MOrth RCSEd).

Rasha spent several years working as a consultant, specialist orthodontist and lecturer in orthodontics at Benghazi University, teaching undergraduates and postgraduates. She went on to work as an orthodontist.

Rasha accepts referrals for orthodontic treatments on patients of all ages. Rasha is very passionate about her job and is dedicated to her patients. She offers a broad array of treatments and services for teeth straightening and other orthodontic procedures.

Dr Urooj Iqbal is a specialist orthodontist providing treatments and services at Total Orthodontics Sheffield.

Training and qualifications

Urooj completed her higher specialist training in orthodontics at the prestigious Royal London Dental Hospital. She was later awarded Membership in Orthodontics by the Royal College of Surgeons England in 2023.

Prior to this, Urooj graduated as a dentist from Queen Mary University of London in 2014. She is recognised for presenting at both national and international orthodontic conferences, and secured the first prize from the British Orthodontic Society for her research on social media use by patients during her Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry.

Urooj is considerate, compassionate and methodical, and applies her meticulous attention to detail to a range of orthodontic procedures and teeth straightening treatments. She finds joy in making orthodontic treatment and its life-changing results available to patients of all ages.

Urooj has recently made the move from London to Sheffield with her husband and their young son and has been enjoying exploring Sheffield and its surrounding areas with her family.

Lindsay Stansall

Lindsay works alongside our orthodontist Sonil as an orthodontic therapist. Lindsay qualified as a dental nurse at the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital, Sheffield in 1995 and has completed an additional qualification in dental radiography.

She joined our practice in 2007 as a senior dental nurse. In 2011, she trained as an orthodontic therapist at Leeds University and the Royal College of Surgeons in London.

Paris Oldfield

Paris was previously a dental nurse and has since qualified as an orthodontic therapist. Paris has been working in dentistry since 2009. In 2011, she qualified as a dental nurse. She later began training as an orthodontic therapist and qualified from the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh in 2018.

Paris also works at Montagu Hospital in their orthodontic department, gaining experience in complex and multidisciplinary cases.

Chloe Beresford started working as a dental nurse in a general practice in 2019. She followed her passion for orthodontics and has been working as an orthodontic dental nurse since 2021. Chloe joined us in 2023 and is now working on her postgraduate qualifications to pursue her dream of becoming an orthodontic therapist.

Perrie joined us in 2014 and has filled various roles including treatment coordinator and practice coordinator. She completed the Bupa Practice Managers Academy in 2015 and is now our registered practice manager.

Perrie originally qualified as a dental nurse at Charles Clifford Dental Hospital in 2007. She then moved into a general practice where she completed additional qualifications and became the lead dental nurse, gaining experience in domiciliary visits and community settings.

Kathy joined Total Orthodontics in 2019, having 10 years' experience within dentistry previously. Kathy is now our dedicated treatment coordinator and works four days a week.
