Mark has experience in general dentistry as well as in orthodontics. He is a registered specialist in orthodontics.
Mark qualified in dentistry from Liverpool University with honours in 1987. Having gained experience in oral and maxillofacial surgery, Mark became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh, winning the Dean’s medal in the process.
After further postgraduate studies, he gained his master’s degree in orthodontics, winning the gold medal from his college for his research. Mark has presented and lectured on orthodontic practice.

Training and qualifications
Dr Majid Salas is a GDC-registered specialist orthodontist with nearly twenty years of advanced dental training and experience, dedicated to helping patients achieve healthy, confident smiles.
After qualifying as a dentist, Majid gained experience in both paediatric dentistry and oral surgery before undertaking specialist orthodontic training at the Centre University Hospital (Île-de-France). In 2008, he obtained his Dento-Cranio-Maxillo-Facial Orthopaedics Interuniversity Diploma from the University of Bourgogne. He later expanded his expertise with a Diploma in Dental Implantology from the University of Sorbonne (Paris VI).
Treatments offered
Majid provides orthodontic treatment for both children and adults, offering a full range of appliance systems, including conventional fixed braces, removable and functional appliances, Invisalign aligners and aesthetic brackets. He has been recognised as a specialist orthodontist by the General Dental Council since 2019.
In addition to his private practice, Majid also works part-time as a consultant orthodontist at the Maxillofacial Department of Harrogate District Hospital and within NHS orthodontic primary care. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his young family and exploring the historic landscapes and culture of Yorkshire.

Clare Massey joined the practice in August 1998, after working as a trainee dental nurse in a general dental practice and gaining her Dental Surgery Assistant Qualification in 1993. With previous experience in retail, Clare has a great understanding of customer service and care. Clare has continued to develop her knowledge within her role as lead nurse, and has completed an impression taking course, the Corndel Leadership and Management course, and ILM Leadership and Management in Dental Decontamination. These additional qualifications allow Clare to provide support to the nursing team and ensure quality dental care for our patients while working to support the practice management team with CQC, GDC guidelines, health and safety and other legislation. In her spare time, Clare enjoys walking, going to the gym, attending theatre and live music events and trying new places to eat.

Susan Baker started training to be a dental nurse in 1989. She worked in general dentistry for eight and a half years before moving to Total Orthodontics Warrington in the year 2000, and she’s delighted to still be here 24 years later. Susan is a globe trotter and has travelled all around the world and loves spending time with her family and pet cat.

Rachel Bibby qualified as a dental nurse in 2008 when she gained an NVQ level 3 qualification. She worked in a general dental practice for 10 years, but loves her role in a specialist orthodontist practice where she can see patients’ happy faces at the end of their treatment.
In her spare time, Rachel loves dining out, walking, sunny holidays and – most importantly – spending time with her family.

Sarah Purcell has worked at Total Orthodontics Warrington since November 2022. Before coming to Total Orthodontics, Sarah worked in a gym for five years.
Sarah is currently completing her dental nursing apprenticeship. Her Bupa family has been a great support and has helped Sarah build her confidence while training. Sarah is looking forward to taking further courses in the future with Bupa, increasing my knowledge and gaining additional qualifications.
Outside of work, Sarah enjoys adventuring in the Lake District and going on long hikes with her husband, spending time with her family and going to the gym.
Trainee Dental Nurse
After graduating from Liverpool John Moores University in 2012, Sarah Slater joined Bupa Dental Care as a receptionist at Total Orthodontics Ormskirk practice. She later moved to Total Orthodontics Wigan as practice coordinator in 2013, then became Wigan’s practice manager in 2016 and joined the Warrington team in February 2023 as a dual site practice manager. She took on the role of Warrington practice manager in January 2024 and is grateful for all the support she has received from the team. When not working, Sarah is an avid reader and can usually be found on the sofa with a good book.

Karen Thorpe joined Total Orthodontics Warrington in 2012 as a receptionist. She became practice manager in 2017 and gained a foundation managerial qualification with the Chartered Management Institute in 2021. In 2022, Karen stepped into her current role of practice coordinator and continues to assist our current practice manager. In her spare time, Karen enjoys reading and travelling.

Alexandra Smith has been working at Total Orthodontics since 2017. Prior to her current role, Alexandra worked as a receptionist and as a rehabilitation therapist. Alexandra loves going on holiday with her young family, and they have recently found our green fingers and are growing lots of fruit and vegetables in their garden.

Bethany Crompton qualified as a dental nurse in 2017 and has worked in lots of different dental practices in London and Essex. She moved to Warrington and joined the Total Orthodontics team in 2022, where she works in a dual role as receptionist and dental nurse. Prior to being a dental nurse, Bethany was a nursery nurse. She loves working in Orthodontics but if she could do any job in the world, Bethany would be a pilot.

Susan Flanagan has worked in dentistry for over twenty years as a dental nurse and receptionist. She joined Total Orthodontics Warrington in 2015, and loves meeting and helping people, so finds her role as a receptionist in the practice to be very rewarding. In her spare time, Susan enjoys long walks, bike rides and climbing mountains.
