Melissa Chen Wade is a Specialist Orthodontist at Total Orthodontics Uckfield

Melissa, our lead specialist orthodontist, has a keen interest in treating patients with the Invisalign system, as well as fitting fixed braces for children and adults.

Melissa has been a dentist and orthodontist for over 25 years and has worked for Total Orthodontics Uckfield since 2002. Following her training, Melissa worked as a family dentist and then in hospital posts for nine years to gain more experience in adult and children’s dentistry. She then qualified as an orthodontist and undertook a further three years’ training to become a consultant orthodontist.

As a consultant at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Surrey County Hospital, Melissa treated patients requiring orthodontics and facial surgery. Melissa enjoys teaching dental and orthodontic postgraduate students. She has been a member of the European Orthodontic Society and is a member of the British Orthodontic Society.

Jiten Vadukul is a Specialist Orthodontist at Total Orthodontics Uckfield

Jiten uses a variety of different orthodontic systems to achieve results including Invisalign aligners, Carriere Motion braces, as well as twin block, ceramic and metal fixed braces.

Jiten’s passion for dentistry began before he started his dental studies, when he was awarded a science bursary by the Nuffield Foundation and given the opportunity to work on a research project within Guy’s Hospital. He then undertook his dental studies at the University of Birmingham. After qualifying as a dentist in 2008, Jiten spent several years working across hospitals in South Wales, Bristol and East Grinstead acquiring further skills in general, paediatric, restorative and community dentistry. He also gained experience in oral and maxillofacial surgery and in orthodontics. During these years, Jiten was awarded the Membership of the Joint Dental Faculties at the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

He then joined the three-year orthodontic postgraduate training programme at Cardiff Dental Hospital. He was awarded an MSc degree in orthodontics, with distinction, as well as Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. This allowed him to become a registered specialist orthodontist with the General Dental Council.

Jiten’s research has been presented at local and international conferences, winning a prize at the International Orthodontic Conference in 2015. He is a member of the British Orthodontic Society and currently works as a specialist orthodontist across practices in London, Surrey, Sussex and Kent. Jiten enjoys spending time with his patients to ensure they fully understand all aspects of their treatment and aims to provide a relaxed environment for his patients.

Training and qualifications

Robert is a specialist and consultant orthodontist. He completed his dental training at University of Sheffield Dental School, graduating with the Dental Practitioners Prize in Orthodontics and Paediatric Dentistry. Upon graduating, Robert took up positions in oral and maxillofacial surgery and paediatric dentistry, and worked in Australia as a dentist.

He undertook his initial three years of postgraduate specialist training in orthodontics at the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital, Sheffield and Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham. Robert then went on to complete his higher consultant training between Queens Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead and the Evelina Cleft Service, St Thomas’ Hospital, London.

He is an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons England Dental Membership examination and trains the next generation of specialist and consultant orthodontists in his role as a consultant. Robert has lectured at national and international scientific meetings and conferences and his award-winning research has been published in several leading orthodontic journals.

Robert holds Fellowship with both the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He is a full member of the British Orthodontic Society and is a past chairman and secretary of its Training Grades Group.

Courtney has worked within the orthodontic industry for over 14 years. She originally joined Total Orthodontics in 2014 as head nurse of the Horsham practice, where she furthered her career and gained qualifications in oral health education and dental radiography. Courtney has since completed orthodontic therapy training at Bristol Dental Hospital and recently returned to Total Orthodontics Uckfield as a qualified orthodontic therapist in March 2023.

Brooke Fryer

Brooke Fryer joined Total Orthodontics Uckfield in late 2025, offering her hygienist services to our patients. Brooke began her career in dentistry in 2016 as a dental nurse and qualified as a dental hygienist and therapist in 2021, graduating with first-class honours from Cardiff University.

Brooke is known for her gentle, reassuring approach and enjoys caring for her patients. She understands the importance of oral hygiene, especially during orthodontic treatment, and she helps patients maintain excellent oral health and confidence during treatment.

Having once been an anxious patient herself, she is passionate about creating a calm, supportive environment for all patients.Outside of practice, Brooke enjoys going to the gym, travelling and spending time with her Shih Tzu, Milo.

Corene Hughes

Corene Hughes is an orthodontic therapist at Total Orthodontics Uckfield. She started her career in 1998 as a dental nurse in a General Dental Practice and was fully qualified by 2001. Corene remained there in her role as head nurse until she left to go to work for Total Orthodontics in 2006. It was there that she was trained in radiography and radiology. Corene achieved her Assessors Award and went on to graduate as an orthodontic therapist in 2011, having studied in house and at Leeds Royal infirmary. She has also given orthodontic presentations to student dental nurses.

Corene’s main passion is patient care, and she takes a patient-centered approach and has a keen interest in dental anxiety, special needs and treating patients with additional physical needs. She has completed a course in children’s mental health and autism. In her free time, Corene enjoys canoeing, countryside walks, growing her own vegetables and beekeeping.

Amy began her nursing career in 2017, and her National Diploma in Dental Nursing NEBDN was completed in 2019. Since joining Total Orthodontics Uckfield in 2022, Amy has completed a course in dental radiography with BDA and also gained a certificate in impression taking. Having previously worked in NHS, private general dentistry and dental implant practices, Amy discovered her passion for orthodontics and is driven to progress within this field in the future. She loves caring for her patients and helping them feel relaxed during their treatment journey, and Amy’s favourite aspect of the role is witnessing the amazing transformations that orthodontics can achieve.

Urszula Kleszczewska

National Diploma in Dental Nursing NEBDN 2025

Urszula Kleszczewska, known to her patients as Ula, qualified as a dental nurse in February 2024 and joined our practice in October 2024. She worked in general dentistry for two years before making the move to Orthodontics. Ula is currently working on gaining additional qualifications to broaden her professional skills, and her role in the practice is to make sure our patients feel comfortable and well looked after throughout their journey. She also supports the clinicians and her colleagues to ensure all administrative tasks are up to date.

Ula is passionate about supporting patients, especially those who find visits to us challenging and those who are anxious or with additional needs. In her spare time, her passions are reading and hiking.

When not on the front desk interacting with our patients, Stevie is busy organising the diaries to make sure our practice runs smoothly and our clinicians are kept busy.

Robyn Durrant joined the Total Orthodontics Uckfield team in October 2018. Robyn enjoys interacting with our patients at reception and ensuring they are comfortable during their treatment with us, as she feels it’s very important for the patient journey to be the best it can be.

Leah Hockley

Leah Hockley joined Total Orthodontics in October 2023. She previously worked in the Haywards Heath practice and made the move to Uckfield in March 2025. Leah meets all of our new patients when they come into practice, ensuring they are comfortable, and talking through the different types of braces with them. She considers meeting new patients the best part of her job, as she finds it very rewarding to see them through their treatment.

Leah is a friendly face around the practice, and is always available to help any of our patients if they are feeling anxious.
