David Young has over 30 years’ experience straightening teeth. He is also a consultant orthodontist, focusing on complex jaw surgery cases.
David studied dentistry at Guy’s Hospital, qualifying with honours in 1985. He then spent several years obtaining a broad postgraduate education in maxillofacial surgery, oral medicine, restorative dentistry, children’s dentistry and orthodontics.
David was awarded his Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1991. After three years’ postgraduate training at Eastman Dental Hospital, David was awarded an MSc in Orthodontics from the University of London, with honours, and given the European Research Award for his thesis. In 1994, David was awarded a Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of England and was awarded the ‘Gold Medal for Clinical Excellence’.
David’s pre-consultant training continued at the Eastman Dental Hospital and Queen Mary’s Hospital, Roehampton, where he gained experience in different types of orthodontic care.
Alongside his work with us, David is a consultant orthodontist at Queen Mary’s Hospital, Sidcup, and focuses on treating complex orthodontic cases requiring surgery to the jaw. He is involved in teaching clinical orthodontics to postgraduate orthodontic trainees, as well as research into new methods of orthodontic care. He has lectured internationally and is a member of the British Orthodontic Society, European Orthodontic Society and the World Federation of Orthodontists.
Outside of work, David enjoys travelling to new destinations with his wife, exploring new areas, soaking up the culture and local cuisines.

Ruchika Sabherwal is a specialist orthodontist who exclusively provides teeth straightening treatment to patients.
Ruchika qualified as a dentist with an honours degree from University of Bristol in 2003. She then worked in general dental practice before being accepted onto the Bristol General Professional Training (GPT) scheme.
In Bristol, she worked as a senior house officer in oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics and paediatric dentistry. During this period, she was awarded the Membership of the Faculty in Dental Surgery from The Royal College of Surgeons of England. She was mentored by one of the leading Orthodontists in the country, and this is where she discovered her passion for orthodontics.
In 2006, Ruchika undertook her three year Orthodontics Specialist postgraduate training at King’s College and St George’s Hospital, London. She was awarded a Master of Science (MSc) with Merit in Orthodontics from the University of London. She also attained the Membership in Orthodontics (MOrth) from The Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2009. Ruchika is registered as a specialist orthodontist with the General Dental Council. She is also a member of the British and European Orthodontic Society.
Ruchika restricts her dentistry career solely to orthodontics. She also currently works in private practice in South London. Ruchika focuses on delivering the best care to her patients, improving the smiles and confidence of children and adults in a relaxed, friendly and approachable manner.
In her spare time, Ruchika loves London life with her husband and two daughters – they also enjoy jetting off across the world and have recently visited Rome, Paris and Dubai.

Tarryn Bethel-Hunt is an orthodontic therapist at our practice, and she began her career with Total Orthodontics in 2005. She qualified as a dental nurse in 2009, before completing additional courses in radiography and radiology for dentistry the following year.
In 2012, Tarryn won a national competition at the British Orthodontic Conference, achieving recognition for a system she implemented across Total Orthodontics that saved dental nurses hours in clinical time. In 2014, she completed her diploma in Orthodontic Therapy at Leeds University.
In her spare time, Tarryn loves spending time with her young daughter and husband, family, and friends.

Carly Hawes worked as a dental nurse before later qualifying as an orthodontic therapist. In May 2000, Carly qualified as a dental nurse before completing additional dental radiography and radiology courses. In 2009, she completed a PAR calibration course and achieved her certificate in orthodontic nursing from the NEDBN. She took on the role of cross-infection champion in 2010, rewriting our cross-infection policy and carrying out audits across a number of Total Orthodontics practices.
Carly later completed her diploma in Orthodontic Therapy from The Royal College of Surgeons of England.
Outside of work, Carly loves exploring the great outdoors and regularly goes camping with her two children and partner in their campervan.

Jessica Williams worked as a dental nurse at Queen Mary’s Hospital in 2015 and qualified as an orthodontic therapist in 2021. She started working with us at Total Orthodontics Crawley in January 2022. Jessica is very active and loves a good work out on her Peloton.

Lisa Benevenia started working on reception at Total Orthodontics in 2002 and was promoted to practice manager in 2004. Over the years, she has greatly enjoyed seeing so many beautiful smiles and the soaring confidence of the practice’s patients. Her favourite part of her role is managing a fun and friendly team who have a real passion for what they do best. Lisa has a passion for music and enjoys rehearsing weekly with her band.

Lauren Holden started as a receptionist with Total Orthodontics in 2016, working her way up to practice administrator in 2018 and qualifying as a treatment care coordinator the same year. Since transferring to our practice in Crawley in 2019, she has gained further experience and was promoted to practice coordinator in 2021. Lauren loves spending time with her husband, family and friends. You can always find Lauren roaming about in a sunflower or pumpkin field.

Kevin Folkes qualified as a dental nurse in 2014, was promoted to lead nurse in 2022, and qualified as an orthodontic lead nurse in March 2023. Kevin volunteers at St. John’s ambulance in his spare time and loves to attend events from football matches to Pride.

Dee Winchester qualified as a dental nurse in 2012 and has predominantly worked in general dentistry, including having worked in dentistry in Australia. Dee joined us in 2021 and in June 2023 she obtained a radiography qualification. In her free time, Dee loves long walks with her dog and partner.

Beatrice Elekanachi, known as Bea, has been working with us since November 2023 and loves interacting with both patients and staff alike. Her favourite thing about her role is seeing the smile transformations achieved for patients. Bea got married in June 2024 and is a fan of rock music.

Kirsty Sobol joined Total Orthodontics in May 2022 as a trainee dental nurse, and quickly became a valued member of the Crawley practice team. Kirsty qualified as a dental nurse in May 2024.
Outside of work, Kirsty loves baking for her partner, family and friends – she has made many delicious delicacies for us to all try. Of course, we make sure to brush our teeth afterwards.

Amy Da Silva has worked for Total Orthodontics Crawley for over 10 years as our receptionist. During that time, she’s met and welcomed thousands of patients into the practice. She is very organised with recalls, booking patients in for retainer checks, maintaining our cancellation list and covering reception.
When not at work, Amy enjoys spending time with her two children and husband on fun days out making lovely memories.

Emma Higgins has been on our reception team since 2015. After returning from maternity leave in 2019, Emma covers the desk from time to time but is now more involved in administrative tasks, such as ordering our retail stock and stationery, managing our waiting lists and ensuring that behind-the-scenes tasks are completed. Emma enjoys spending time with her family on days out, you can often find her in a cosy coffee shop sipping on a pumpkin spice latte.

Fay started working for Total Orthodontics Crawley in November 2022 and has loved being here ever since. She’s an asset to our front of house team, which she sees as her second family. In her spare time, Fay is busy looking after her two daughters, young dogs and spending time with her husband.

Danni Groves started working with us in April 2024 and took to reception like a duck to water. Within three days of working with us, she was booking appointments, answering the phones, and getting hands on with the day-to-day running of the practice. When not working, Danni is always spending time with her family and close friends. She has two lovely teenage boys and a little sausage dog who keeps her very busy.
