Richard is a specialist in orthodontics and oral surgery. He is one of the co-founders of Total Orthodontics.
Richard studied dentistry at Guy’s Hospital, London, graduating in 1990 with double honours. After qualifying, he remained at Guy’s as a house officer in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
Over the next three years, Richard continued to train within this field at several hospitals in London before eventually returning to Guy’s Hospital as a registrar. During this time, he was awarded the Fellowship in Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
Following his decision to pursue a career in orthodontics, Richard spent two years in general dental practice in England and Australia, broadening his experience. In 1996, he began a three-year, full-time training course in orthodontics based at Guy’s Hospital and the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital in Brighton. Upon graduating, he received his master’s and Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of England, allowing him to be registered as a specialist orthodontist with the General Dental Council. Richard is also a registered specialist in oral surgery.
After completing his specialist training, Richard divided his time between the orthodontic department at Kingston Hospital and a specialist orthodontic practice. He became a partner of Total Orthodontics in 2002.

Richard is also secretary of the Orthodontic Specialists Group of the British Orthodontic Society. He has keen interests in clinical research and continuing education.
