Paul qualified from the Royal London Hospital in 1990. After periods in oral surgery units and general practice he completed his orthodontic training and obtained his MSc at Guys Hospital gaining orthodontic membership from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1999. Paul is a keen surfer, cyclist and snowboarder and he can also often be seen touring the area in his Winnebago!

Chris qualified in Dentistry in 1997 from the University of Bristol and has worked in practice in North Devon ever since. He worked in general practice until 2011 and spent three of those years training new graduates on the vocational training scheme. In 2003 he started working part-time as an orthodontic assistant at Total Orthodontics Barnstaple. In 2013 he achieved the Diploma in Primary Care Orthodontics. Chris is a keen cyclist and golfer and plays bass guitar in the popular local band ‘Low Tide Theory’. In the evenings, under the clear Devon skies, he indulges in the some (very) amateur astronomy.

Laura worked in general practice in North Devon for several years before joining us at Total Orthodontics Barnstaple in 2001. During this time she has done volunteer work as a dental nurse on the mercy ships in Africa. She is also one of our first-aiders. She qualified as an Orthodontic Therapist through the South Wales Orthodontic Therapy Programme run by the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2011. Laura’s gentle chair-side manner makes her popular with patients and staff alike.

Helen started working as a dental nurse in general practice in 2001, taking time out at one point to achieve a foundation degree in psychology and sociology. On her return to dentistry she worked in general practice until March 2013 when she joined Total Orthodontics Barnstaple. She has a keen interest in the dental sciences, and passed her certificate in dental radiography in February 2014. Never one to sit still for long, Helen qualified as an orthodontic therapist in October 2015 on the Leeds programme affiliated to the Royal College of Surgeons. Helen is always busy, juggling a hectic working life with her family and keeping fit by cycling and going to the gym. Helen is a keen baker, and we are delighted that she regularly provides us with a variety of treats at the practice! ‘I enjoy working with this happy, bubbly team. Every day has something new.’

Helen started her dental career in general practice in Ilfracombe and qualified as a dental nurse in February 2005. She made the leap into orthodontics in August 2010 when she joined us at Total Orthodontics Barnstaple. She soon gained her certificate in dental radiography in June 2011. Always wanting to further her career, Helen qualified as an orthodontic therapist in October 2015 on the Leeds programme affiliated to the Royal College of Surgeons. Out of work, Helen can be seen out and about with her young daughters, the youngest of whom was born in early April, and her visits are one of the highlights of our week. ‘The highlight of my working day is seeing a patient’s new smile revealed.’
