Richard Jones- BDS MSc FDS RCS MOrth RCS
Richard studied dentistry at Guy's Hospital, London, graduating in 1990
with double honours. Following this he remained at Guy's as a house
officer in oral and maxillofacial surgery. Over the next three years Richard
continued to train within this specialty at a number of hospitals in London,
eventually returning to Guy's as a registrar. During this time he was
awarded the Fellowship in Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons
of England.
Following his decision to follow a career in orthodontics, Richard spent a
two years in general dental practice in England and Australia broadening
his experience. In 1996 he began a three year full-time training course in
Orthodontics, based at Guy's hospital and the Royal Alexandra children's
hospital in Brighton. Upon graduating he received a Master of Science
Degree and the Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of
Surgeons of England allowing him to be registered as a specialist
orthodontist with the General Dental Council. Richard is also a specialist
in oral surgery.
After completing his specialist training, Richard divided his time between
the orthodontics department at Kingston hospital and specialist orthodontic
practice. He became a partner of Total Orthodontics in 2002 and is now a
director of Total Orthodontics Ltd. He is a member of the American
Association of Orthodontists, the World Federation of Orthodontists and
the British Dental Association. Richard is also secretary of the Orthodontic
Specialists Group of the British Orthodontic Society.
Richard has keen interests in clinical research and continuing education.
In addition, he is actively involved in running courses for postgraduate
students and is regularly invited to lecture on orthodontic topics both at
home and abroad
