After qualifying from the University of Wales, College of Medicine in
1996, Rachel undertook two maxillofacial senior house officer positions
and a paediatric position before embarking on a three year orthodontic
training programme at Guys Hospital, London. Whist at Guys she was
awarded the “Geoffrey Fletcher Prize” in orthodontics which enabled her
to undertake a research project in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Rachel qualified in orthodontics in 2003 and obtained a FTTA position
at Kingston Hospital to pursue her consultant training. Rachel currently
works as a Consultant at Kingston Hospital and also as a Specialist
Orthodontic practitioner in Surrey and Sussex. She was recently
awarded the prestigious “Maurice Berman prize” for clinical excellence
in the treatment of a multidisciplinary case.
During her training she was voted into the position of Chairman of the
British Orthodontic Society’s Training Grades Group and has sat on
various orthodontic committees over the past three years representing
theviews of her fellow colleagues. Rachel particularly enjoys her
committee work and has recently taken up a role on the British
Orthodontic Society’s conference committee in charge of media and
public relations. More recently Rachel was invited by 3M to be a keynote
lecturer on their nurse and therapy days.
