Mary Yates- BDS MSc FDS RCS MOrth RCS
After qualifying as a dentist at Guys Hospital Dental School in 1986,
Mary took up a series of hospital appointments in Maxillo-facial surgery
and Paediatric Dentistry until gaining her Fellowship of the Royal College
of Physicians and Surgeons in 1990. After a short spell in general
dentistry she returned to Guys for a three year Orthodontic Postgraduate
Training Programme. She was awarded the Membership in Orthodontics
of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and an MSc in Orthodontics
in 1993. Since qualification, she has divided her professional work between
a part-time post as an Associate Specialist in Orthodontics at the Queen
Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead and practice, latterly in association with
Total Orthodontics.
Mary has a keen interest in the treatment of complex orthodontic
problems including adults requiring a combination of orthognathic
surgery and orthodontic intervention. She enjoys teaching post-graduate
students at the Queen Victoria Hospital and this post also allows her the
opportunities to maintain contact with the latest developments in clinical
and surgical procedures and techniques. Mary is registered as a Specialist
Orthodontist with the General Dental Council and is a member of the
British Orthodontic Society and British Dental Association.
