Mel has worked in Dentistry since 1997, initially in a general dental
practice. During this time, she qualified as a dental nurse through the
National Certificate in 2000. After starting at Total Orthodontics in 2003,
Mel has enjoyed mentoring the nurses and achieved her qualification as
an NVQ assessor in 2005. She regularly talks to local dental nursing
colleges about orthodontics in preparation for their exams.
Mel is also one of the local organisers for the NEBDN National
Certificate examination days.She also coordinates the nurses and
therapy registration for the company. During 2005 and 2007 Mel gained
her Radiography and Orthodontic Nursing qualification.
In 2010, Mel completed her Diploma in Orthodontic Therapy, and
qualified from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Mel takes an
active interest in mentoring the trainee therapists and has recently started
a new role at the Leeds Dental Institute as an Orthodontic Therapy Tutor
for the Yorkshire Orthodontic Therapy Course.
